Terms and Conditions
Last updated 17 August 2026
These terms cover localbites.ie, including the waitlist and joining at /join. LocalBites is a neighbourhood marketplace in development. Joining the list does not guarantee a live kitchen, a drop date, or a voucher.
Who we are
LocalBites operates from Cork, Ireland. Questions: localbitesie@gmail.com.
Accounts
You can join as a food lover, a home cook, or both. Every account can buy. You must use a real email you control. Confirming that email verifies the profile. We may refuse or close an account that is incomplete, abusive, or used to game the first-50 voucher.
Waitlist, vouchers, and kitchens
The first 50 verified food lovers (buyer or both) may receive a €5 first-order voucher. Kitchen-only signups get thank-you access, not a voucher. Vouchers are single-use, non-transferable, and have no cash value.
Independent kitchens
LocalBites is a neighbourhood marketplace, not a restaurant, caterer, or food business operator. Home cooks and bakers on the platform are independent. They prepare, label, and offer their own food. We provide the listing, ordering tools, and HSE onboarding guidance — we do not cook, pack, or sell the meals ourselves.
Each cook is responsible for HSE registration, hygiene, ingredients, allergen information, and fulfilling confirmed orders. Each buyer is responsible for checking allergens and agreeing pickup or drop details with that cook. A listing on LocalBites is not a LocalBites-branded kitchen, and an order is a contract between the buyer and the cook, not a purchase of food from LocalBites.
Acceptable use
Do not post false menus, impersonate other kitchens, harvest emails, or use the site for anything unlawful under Irish law. We may remove listings or pause access while we review a report.
Liability
The site is provided as a beta. We work to keep it available, but we do not promise uninterrupted access. Subject to Irish consumer law that cannot be excluded, LocalBites is not liable for the quality, safety, or contents of food prepared by independent cooks, or for missed pickups arranged between a cook and a buyer. Irish law applies. Courts in Ireland have jurisdiction.
Changes
We may update these terms as the product leaves waitlist. The date at the top is the latest version. Related pages: Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
