Cookie Policy
Last updated 19 August 2026
This page explains cookies and similar storage on localbites.ie under EU ePrivacy rules and the GDPR. LocalBites is the controller. We do not run advertising trackers or sell data to ad networks.
Your choice
Strictly necessary storage (sign-in and security) does not need a prior opt-in. Optional visit counts only run if you tap Accept all. Essential only refuses them. You can change your mind at any time.
Account data is not a cookie
When you register we collect your name, email, password, role, town or neighbourhood, mobile number, GDPR consent, and — depending on your role — kitchen name, HSE status, menu dishes, or cravings. That information is stored in your account so we can run the waitlist. It is not placed in a cookie. See the Privacy Policy for how we use and protect it.
What we store in your browser
| Name | Type | How long | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Auth session | Essential cookie | While you are signed in (and a short renewal window) | Keeps you logged in securely after you register or sign in. |
| theme | Essential local storage | Until you clear site data | Remembers light or dark mode after you choose it. |
| localbites-cookie-consent | Essential local storage | Until you clear site data or change your choice | Remembers whether you allowed optional visit counts. |
| Page views (our host) | Optional measurement | Only if you accept; not an advertising cookie | Counts visits and which pages are opened, using first-party analytics on our website host (Vercel). No ads, no sale to ad networks. |
Legal basis
Essential cookies: they are strictly necessary for the service you ask for (a working, secure site and sign-in). Optional visit counts: your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a) and Irish ePrivacy rules). You can withdraw that consent without affecting essential features.
What we do not use
We do not use third-party ad cookies, social pixels, or cross-site tracking on this waitlist site. If that changes before launch, we will update this page and ask again.
Transfers and your rights
Our website host may process visit data outside Ireland, including the United States, under standard contractual clauses. You can ask us to access, correct, or delete personal data, and you may complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland. Questions: localbitesie@gmail.com.
